Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing or EMDR is a form of therapy that has been shown to help individuals manage difficult symptoms associated with PTSD, Anxiety, Depression and other diagnoses.

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy or CBT is a form of therapy that allows for the development of awareness into adaptive and maladaptive ways that thoughts impact feelings and behaviors. The approach is an effective way to treat a range of life problems and stressors leading to significant improvement in functioning and quality of life. Together we work towards positive life changes.

Anxiety can be debilitating and interferes with self esteem, life goals, relationships, and sense of safety. We work together to develop skills to help you manage difficult negative symptoms that affect daily functioning and quality of life.

Depression results in loss of pleasure or interest in activities causing impairment in daily life. Symptoms include the persistent feeling of sadness, tearfulness, loss of hope, or worthlessness. Depression can negatively affect sleep, appetite, motivation, energy, self esteem and self care. Suicidal ideation or thoughts can be a result of persistent depression given the changes in daily functioning and quality of life. Together we work towards decreasing negative symptoms and provide coping mechanisms to manage daily life.

Post Traumatic Stress Disorder or PTSD is a diagnosis resulting from experiencing or witnessing a traumatic event or circumstance. Examples can include natural disasters, war, terrorist acts, rape/sexual assault, violence, and serious accidents. Symptoms include sleep disturbances such as nightmares or flashback; mood disturbances such as sadness, anxiety, fear, irritability, anger; behavioral disturbances such as strong reactions to sounds, social isolation or avoidance of situations. Working together we can mitigate the affects of the negative symptoms in order to improve your functioning and quality of life.

Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder or ADHD is a Mental Health disorder that includes persistent problems with focus, completion of tasks, organization, management of time, restlessness, and impulsive behaviors. Together we work to develop coping skills that can positively impact school, job, and life functioning.

Grief is a response to the loss of a life or life circumstance. The pain of loss can be emotionally and physcially overwhelming. You may experience unexpected emotions such as shock, anger, guilt, and deep sadness. The pain of grief can disrupt your physical health, making it difficult to sleep, eat, care for yourself or others, or even think clearly. Examples of loss that evoke grief include divorce, loss of job, health, a miscarriage, death of a loved one or family member, death of a pet, retirement, aging, or loss of a home. Counseling can provide support and guidance through the grief process.

Pain can affect one’s mental health in many ways. Feelings of anger, sadness, hopelessness, despair, and anxiety can disrupt daily life and relationships. While psychotherapy will not cure the pain experienced, it can be beneficial in improving coping and management of stressors which can reduce the impact of pain on mental health.

Adjusting to life changes can be difficult and stressful. Changes can include change of job, marriage, graduation from high school, transition to college, recent move, and changes in relationships/family dynamics. Together we work to develop skills to manage these changes to lessen the negative impact on life transitions..
